Mental Health Concerns

If you have any concerns about your child's Mental Health, there are various apps and online sources of support. We also have skilled colleagues in school who can liaise with other agencies. You can also speak to your GP.

Local help available in Bolton includes:

  • Bolton lads & girls – offers a youth counselling service, targeted youth services, bereavement service, sports activities;
  • Bolton together charity – supported through the iThrive framework, one of its areas is to improve health and wellbeing;
  • Bolton Wanderers in the community – the wellbeing hub, offering The Bereavement Café alongside the iThrive mentoring project;
  • Time2talk – family mediation service;
  • Qwell  - Free online mental health counselling and self-help support for parents and carers in Bolton who are struggling with their own mental health or would like support to manage their child’s mental health. Access is free and anonymous - www.qwell.io ;
  • Parent Helpline - The Young Minds parent helpline is available Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 4pm for detailed advice, emotional support and signposting about a child or young person aged up to 25. Call a trained advisor for free on 0808 802 5544;
  • ChatHealth - Parents and carers in Bolton can text a healthcare professional for confidential information and support around a range of topics including child development, emotional health and wellbeing and behavioural issues. This service is provided by Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Text: 07507 331751;
  • Kooth - a free, safe and anonymous online support and counselling service for young people aged 11-18, to support mental wellbeing;
  • MhIST - Mental Health Independent Support Team - provide a friendly, safe and confidential service to support and voice the interests of the mental health service and their carers;
  • Rethink Mental Illness Advice Service – offers practical help and support for anyone affected by mental illness;
  • CAMHS – offering help for children and young people;
  • The School Nursing Service can also support schools by offering screening and support for young people who are struggling with poor emotional health.
